Dr. Ankush Gupta is a neurosurgeon based in Hobart, Tasmania, providing comprehensive care for patients with disorders of the brain and spine. He completed his neurosurgical training at the prestigious Christian Medical College, Vellore, in South India - one of the leading neurosurgical training institutions in Asia. He was awarded the Jacob Chandy Gold Medal at his graduation; a distinction conferred upon only five previous recipients since its establishment over four decades ago. He subsequently worked as a consultant neurosurgeon in India before undertaking further fellowship training in Australia at the Flinders Medical Centre (Adelaide, South Australia) and the Royal Hobart Hospital (Hobart, Tasmania) and was then awarded the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS). He also completed a skull base fellowship in Osaka, Japan, further refining his skills and knowledge in that subspecialty.

His practice encompasses the entire spectrum of cranial, spinal and neuro-oncological surgery, with a particular interest in skull base surgery, neuro-oncology, cerebrovascular surgery, and minimally invasive surgery for degenerative spinal conditions. In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Gupta maintains a strong commitment to teaching, research and surgical education. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and contributed to chapters in neurosurgical books. He remains actively involved in the teaching and mentorship of junior doctors and neurosurgical trainees, in his role as a Staff Specialist at the Royal Hobart Hospital.
