Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is essential for addressing spine conditions and also for those recovering from spine surgery. It helps manage pain, increase flexibility and strengthen the muscles supporting the spine.

After surgery, physiotherapy is crucial for restoring mobility, preventing stiffness and improving overall function. Customised exercises and therapies speed up recovery, aid proper healing, lower the risk of complications and enhance the ability to resume daily activities comfortably.

The team of five physiotherapists at the Tasmanian Spinal Physiotherapy Clinic, operating out of Centre for Neurosurgery, are highly experienced in managing spinally related conditions.

The keystone of physiotherapy intervention is close communication with our patients, thorough movement-based assessment, and educative, self-managing treatment programs helping patients to function to their fullest potential.

The physiotherapists at the Tasmanian Spinal Physiotherapy Clinic work closely with the neurosurgeons, doctors, and pain medicine specialists at the Centre for Neurosurgery and are involved in the multidisciplinary team meetings to plan and provide the most appropriate treatment pathways for our patients.

In combination with gentle manual therapy and exercise approaches, hydrotherapy may be offered as a strategy to recover range of movement, strength and function.

In later stages of management when patients are ready for more robust strengthening programs, our physiotherapists can offer continuity of care transitioning patient management from the Tasmanian Spinal Physiotherapy Clinic to our affiliated practices, Antill Physiotherapy and Northside Physiotherapy.

The physiotherapy team is committed to providing the highest level of physiotherapy care.
